🌾 Inaugural Function
Putharikandam Maidanam, Thiruvananthapuram, witnessed a vibrant and inspiring beginning to Krishi Vaibhav 2026, a landmark agri-based exhibition organized by CISSA, bringing together farmers, Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), agricultural experts, policymakers, institutions, and citizens from across Kerala. The programme began with a prayer by Ms Neha, followed by a warm welcome address by Dr. Sureshkumar C., General Secretary, CISSA, who emphasized the vision behind Krishi Vaibhav, creating direct market opportunities, strengthening farmers economically, and connecting traditional agriculture with innovation and entrepreneurship. The Presidential Address was delivered by Hon’ble Mayor Adv. V V Rajesh, who spoke passionately about the importance of supporting farmers, protecting agriculture, and building sustainable food systems rooted in local communities. His words reflected the commitment of the city towards farmer welfare and agricultural development.
The official inauguration was gracefully conducted by Sri George Kurian, Hon’ble Minister of State for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Minority Affairs, Government of India. His inspiring speech highlighted the ground realities faced by farmers and the collective responsibility of institutions and society to stand with them through meaningful policies, infrastructure, and empowerment initiatives. The Exhibition Inauguration was carried out by Hon’ble MLA Sri V Muraleedharan, who appreciated the efforts of CISSA in creating a powerful platform where farmers, entrepreneurs, self-help groups, and FPOs can showcase their products, innovations, and value-added initiatives directly to the public.
The event became a strong voice for farmer empowerment, rural entrepreneurship, and sustainable agriculture. Dr. Meenesh Shah (Chairman, NDDB) delivered his message online. Eminent dignitaries including Sri G S Prakash (Director, MSME Development & Facilitation Office, Ministry of MSME), Sri S Rajeev (Executive Director, NDDB), Sri K N Sreedharan (Regional Director, NCDC), and Smt. Dini Panicker (Deputy General Manager, NABARD) shared deeply insightful and motivating speeches. They spoke about the real challenges faced by farmers, the role of MSME in transforming agri-business, value addition, financial support systems, cooperative development, and the importance of empowering FPOs for India’s agricultural future.
One of the most memorable moments of the programme was the heartfelt honouring of the distinguished guests with Ponnada, symbolizing Kerala’s tradition of respect and gratitude. Adding colour and cultural richness to the celebration, various varieties of mangoes were presented as part of the vibrant Mambazholsavam, showcasing the diversity and sweetness of Kerala’s agricultural heritage. The grounds came alive with the presence of farmers from across the state, agricultural organizations, students, entrepreneurs, and members of the public, making the event not just an exhibition, but a movement of hope, collaboration, and transformation.
